I was privileged to meet with Dennis Muren, senior visual effects supervisor at ILM, this week at Adobe. One of our dicussioons revolved around why 3D artsit should be trained in tradiotanl media and how that may improve the look of motion capture animation. Where the technology fails (kinematics of facial muscles and expression) is where the artist should pick up the slack.
